All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is constituted in 1952.And AIIMS was created in 1956 at last, as an autonomous institution by passing an Act in Indian Parliament, to serve as a centre for nurturing excellence in all kind of health care. Creating a country with a scientific culture and educational institute was Jawaharlal Nehru’s dream, and soon after independence he took a big decision to get it. Among the temples of modern India which he made through, was a centre of excellence in the medical sciences history.
